Large furniture manufacturers are busy building an empire of "disposable, throw away furniture". Year after year, technology allows them to slice wood veneers thinner and thinner. A couple years of use and it is ready to be thrown into the landfill. They build their furniture to last decades and use only solid woods and hydraulic and pneumatic or hand powered tools. There is no particle board and no laminates used in Amish built furniture.
